Five Iron Frenzy Only Five Iron Frenzy would release a 16 track EP and call it Quantity is Job 1. Thankfully it comes at the price of an EP. Of those 16 songs, you get six legit songs and a bunch of... well, Five Iron being themselves. Included in the goofiness is the eight-part rock opera, "These Are Not My Pants." Of the legitimate songs, there's not a loser in the bunch. Goofiness starts things off with "My Evil Plan to Save the World," and it also finishes the EP with "The Untimely Death of Brad," a track playing off Internet rumors that trumpet player Brad Dunham died. "Get Your Riot Gear" tackles police brutality during the Denver riots after the Bronocs won the Super Bowl. The real stand out tracks are "One Girl Army" and "Dandelions." The song about those little yellow weeds captures the childhood image of picking dandelions and compares a mother lovingly looking past the weeds to the love of God. Quantity may have been the focus, but this EP is packed with quality. (Kevin H.) |
